Can I store some peony roots for approximately two months? I dug up what I want to take and need to know what to do next. Should I wash the dirt off? The clumps are very heavy right now with wet soil on them.

Can I store them dry in paper bags in a cool place? I would rather not plant them in pots because they would be huge pots and very heavy. Thanks -
