80-90 has worked for me. I think 100 is way to high.

I would agree with Mike. I have soil temps in the 80's....sometimes high 80's but that's as high as I feel comfortable. If you can make your shelf cooler, I think you will have a much better shot.

Thanks so much for the replies. It will be easy to get the temp between 80 and 90. I will start with going from 75 to 60 watts and work with foil after that. I appreciate your taking the time to answer my question.

80 -85 is what I recall reading somewhere. Source unknown. When you say 100 do you mean soil temp or air temp? Also consider that you are not using a heat mat which warms the rooting media first versus cooking the "asparagus sticks"
