growing from seed

Hey everyone, I am looking to get some seeds to try germinating them for a school project (I teach Biology). I grew Filfera a few years ago with limited success and would like any input on good species (fast germination and growth rate or the kids will lose interest). Also if you know of a good source for these seeds I would appreciate it as I would like to grow some for myself also. Thanks for the help guys, take care.

Do they have to be palms? Honestly, there is nothing faster and easier in the palm world than Washingtonia. You could also try Ensete bananas from seed. I suggest you broaden your lesson though. Why not do some 'kitchen/pit' gardening. (Probably even a forum here for that.) the following tropicals are kinda easy really from pit or seed, or rhizome...

Ginger
Mango
Papaya
Citrus
Avocado
Jackfruit
Mamey (if your local Latin market sells it)
Pineapples
Pomegranate
Chile peppers
Etc.

This is the pomelo (Chinese grapefruit) seed I planted last year.
