Just saw them at 2 HDs near me for $25. Sabal minors, sylvesters, needles, and a windmill. Stores are in Neptune and Brick.

Well, maybe I check check them out tomorrow. What one carries, they ALL seem to carry (Maine to Miami)! Thanks.

Even down here lowes has not carried blue pots this yr. HD however has had some nice size palms. I picked up another 14 gallon chammy for 45. Two 3 gallon CIDPs for 20 each.

I don't know why, but both also are offering a much poorer selection of 'indoor' palms than only a few years ago. Used to stock Spindles, Queens, Phoenix, Manila, Foxes, Fishtail, Areca triandra, Dypsis, etc.. (and bananas). Now, it's virtually all Majesty! Don't know why the decline. Even the ordinary, cold-hardies are disappointing. (I could basically stock them at this point anyway!) Used to be not much difference between the big boxes here and those in Miami!

Wonder if it's Majesties from Maine to Miami now!

Really? Our local HD had the largest supply of blue pots I've ever seen. Mix of windmills, minors, needles, pindos and med fans and even some CIDP. I was glad to see most of the windmills sold, but there is little help from staff who are clueless and couldn't help a novice to distinguish between pindo and windmill. Lowes had a steady supply too, but not as many.

The Home depot and especially Lowes has been very disappointing here when it comes to palms. I was lucky to get a beautiful pygmy palm at HD for only $50 and some nice and full (but very common) livistonas, but other than that pretty much the only things being sold there are majesties. Lowes has awful plants by me and the nastiest people work there. I try to avoid that place but I checked there 2 or 3 times to see if any blue pots came in and there were none this year.

In the spring my lowes and 2 HD's had sooo many plants and no palms..waited them out now they have no plants and no palms..I don't even stop by anymore its all majestys anyway. My local walmart did have a huge load of blue pots. I still have never seen a blue pot windmill but we did have needle,pindo, sylvester, sabal, med fan ( green and cerifera ). One of each is in the back yard...once they mark them 50% off I can't help myself.

I stopped by HD, W's, and L's today. Think they have given up on this season till Autumn. Too hot, and they don't seem to have anybody working there to actually water the plants--cactus looking good, otherwise it's a killing field! Not pretty! Did get a colorful Cordyline though.

Kmart has blue pots 2 years in a row. I couldn't resist picking up a sabal minor.

I like Sabal minor now but didn't use to. Where hardy they do perform better in the ground than in a container. A bit of Sabal nut here as well. Two clumps of minor in the ground, one in a pot, one Louisiana (which I understand now are considered variants of minor and not a different species), S. texana, S. palmetto, S. mauritiiformis, and S. bermudana. The Louisiana and bermudana are both faster growing for Sabals. Louisiana is pretty cold hardy, bermudans too is supposed to be surprising cold hardy (but I do not risk it), mauritiiformis is THE most tropical and has no cold tolerance btw.. Stopping by a few of the big boxes again tomorrow but not expecting much in terms of hardy palms at this point in the season. They are running 50% off trees and shrubs though here and my collecting bug is not limited to palms!

I've seen blue pot palms a ta home depot in Pennsylvania which is in a zone 5.

went down south to the KY TN border a zone 7 and no blue pots anywhere..did get a few things they had managed to kill on clearance though.

Here they have the usual selection of Trachys, Meds, and Pindos. For the life of me, I cannot understand why they never have Sabal Minors which are hardier than the latter two.

Jacklord, last few years when the big box stores were selling the blue pots, maybe a third WERE minors here. That, some Trachys, Meds, Phoenix (not winter hardy here), Needles, and I believe Butias. I didn't see any of the usual bananas, jumbo Queen palms, even Southern Magnolias which I bought up several years ago etc.. Not really in the market for more palms. (Well, not really.) Still worth visiting HD for 1/2 off sale. Almost bought a nice ginkoo for $24.00 (but I already have a large male, and this not not marked for gender--assuming they only sell males...?). Walked away with more blue hollies and Dwarf English Boxwood--which I love big time! Oh well, maybe next year for those blue pots, or the way some of these stores operate...in the Fall! (They get large shipments of plants here for Fall planting--Yes, I know palms are best not planted in he Fall in the North.)

P.S., Not a blue pot, but my silver Bismarkia nobilis came in today. Lost one last year which I purchased in the Keys several years ago. Fell in love with them and Royals in South Florida.
