I would say on concrete in open shade, so no sun hits them. The optimal temp for rooting is said to be around 80 degrees.

Ok I am going to try bag rooting with coir and perlite.

Personally I would go with the heating pad if you already have one, that way you can control the temp. Otherwise on concrete with protection from direct sunlight should be fine.

Well I put 2 cuttings in baggies with coir on heating pad because it has been raining for last 3 days here. We will see what happens.

Good luck, Mindy. I just bought coir today and am going to give it a try, too.

Mine came from the pet store, and I have read that sometimes, depending where it comes from, that the coir can be very high in salt, so I washed mine very well. It is sooo wet. Hope it dries enough to use by tomorrow.

Moonie, you have have to squeeze the water out by hand. It is like a sponge and will take forever to dry if you don't squeeze as much as possible out of it.

Del - I did squeeze the water out but, being concerned about salt content, I had washed it really well. It was verrry wet. I think (hope) it was good to go today.

I just went out and looked at the bags I am rooting in and one has 2 large roots showing. I am sooo happy. I think it is Kaneohe Sunburst
