recommendations on this cutting

Hi all, this is the largest cutting I've started with so far. Do you guys think it is alright to try and root this as-is? I could make smaller cuttings from it but would rather not unless necessary. Would you recommend sinking it in my rooting medium about 1/2 way up to the first fork? For smaller cuttings I've been using perlite in clear water bottles and a support mechanism to keep everything upright.

I picked it up at the Green Thumb Festival today for 4 bucks. Owner of the host tree did not know the cultivar but they had brought several inflos. Looked sort of Aztec-goldish to me but at any rate they described the host as a very well branched specimen (as evidenced by the cutting) that has survived brushes with freezing temps.

Thanks!
