Trish, your yard looks great! What a good-looking Aztec Gold you have. She really does seem to be a must-have, especially for the cooler parts of the country.

Ooooh, gorgeous yard, bet your plumies are happy to be back out in it, and it looks like two of your plants are especially happy, and will be putting on a show, soon!

I had all mine outside, but moved them in again yesterday because of upcoming nights in low 40s--maybe even upper 30s! Sick of this cold spring.

These poor plants have to endure such a long dormancy period here. This is why they're harder to grow up here -- and harder to bloom well.

In February, my 'Hilo Beauty' was getting some very wrinkled stems and they were starting to feel a bit soft. I was getting concerned. Once i gave it just a bit of water, not too much, but on a more regular basis, it started to plump up again. Looks great now!

So don't let anyone tell you dogmatically that you absolutely musn't water them throughout their dormancy period. Every location and situation is different and has its own challenges and solutions.
