Propagating needle palm from cuttings

My little needle palm flowered this spring and one flower gave a clump of 10 seeds, which I am currently attempting to germinate. It is my understanding I will not live long enough to see these seeds become mature plants.

I keep Mr. Needle Palm trimmed nicely but of course it insists on always sending out new babies around the bottom.

My internet searching tells me many times over that these are what is best to use to propagate, but all my attempts to cut these off and get them to root and survive have failed.

Any help here anyone? This palm cranks out about 8 little babies a year and I want to grow them, but it's not working.
