Once they have germinated, you can remove them from the heat. I remove mine within a day or two and they seem fine.

At this point, your first priority should be adequate light so the seedlings don't get too leggy. An oscillating fan blowing over them would also help build strong stems.

If you've germinated as many as you want to grow of each variety, you can take them off the heat mat now. If not, it won't hurt them if you leave them on the mat longer.

Thanks for the info. I've also fashioned a box lined w/tin foil and two grow lights. Been giving them 14-18 hrs. of light.I'll get a fan going.

If you want to speed up growth, you can leave some heat on, but less then you used for germination. Peppers like warm roots. One caveat though, is that if your air temperature is much colder and humidity is over 60%, additional heat may exacerbate edema issues.

Tin foil is not gonna do much for ya. Mylar is a better choice.

Also, flat white paint is almost as reflective as mylar. If it's in a box, and you have a can of flat ceiling paint around, you can use that.
