The other one I have now put into the ground but I think to late? Do I have to chop their heads off.???? Never have had this happen and they sit with 25 other plumeria that are not having this problem. Is Heidi Gold temperamental? It has been great for 2 years since I rooted it.??? roxanne

So sorry to see this. I know you are feeling badly... It happens and for it to happen on the same variety, makes me think it is the variety. It didn't like something.. Cold nights? Not sure, but I wouldn't cut just yet.. Wait to see what happens. If it does start to spread, then re think. Sometimes it will stop on its own and grow new branches ...

I had Heidi back in 2001, it grew like a weed, was huge.
after 6yrs and was almost 7ft tall,I gifted it to a friend. My Heidi had even survived the big freeze of 2007, never had issue with tips.
Did u spray your Heidi with an oil based insecticide? If not might be root issues, or over fertilizing. Id leave the tips if the black is not traveling, it will dry up and fall off like a babies umbilical chord when its ready and send out new tips.

If it was mine I would cut it off. I did get a couple that did this and I cut them and they started new branches. I don't know why they did this but I did not want it to go down the branch. I always feel that it is safer to cut then to lose them. Barb

I am waiting a bit to see what happens but did move one to the total opposite side of house and put into the ground. So, one now gets afternoon sun and one gets morning sun. Just so odd they grew like weeds and each shot an info right next to each other and then POOF.....roxanne
