I think they will be ok in that size pot for at least another year. The experts will know better.

I'm no expert, but I move them up to a larger pot as soon as I see roots coming out the bottom indicating that it's searching for more space and the roots are vigorously growing.

That one, if it's not rootbound already, may be ready to move up to a 2-gallon by mid-summer. But that's all dependent upon vigor and growing conditions. Next season they should probably be in 3 gallons.

With 80 plants that's gonna take up a lot of space! Hope you have a large backyard!

Thank you Minderella and Dave for replying so quickly. I guess I'll be giving away a lot of the seedlings as presents and teacher's thank you gifts this year.

As a side note. It's funny how seeds planted the same time can have different growth spurts. The green pot is a 1.52 gallon and the black is a 2.5 gallon. Both plants have just been transferred into them this past week. Then again, most of the tags I made for them are lost or faded so I don't know which variety they are so it could be due to the different type of seeds.
