Does anyone have a good system for labeling their plumerias? I've tried writing on the pot with a permanent marker only to have it fade away and I've tried using popcicle sticks and they biodegrade. Does anyone have a good idea?

Thanks for your help. Brighty

Lowes and home depot sells white plastic labels called T-labels with a black marker included to write the info on.They can be inserted into the soil and the info is written on the upper half of the piece.Or you can get aluminum tags called "impress-o-tags" from a company called Amekron (www.amekron.com)Kimisplumerias in Corona,ca. sells them, and beleive me,he ships very fast.I have done a lot of business with him,and you will like him..Hope this helps...

    Hi,
I just bought id tags at a nursery. Have wire to go through holes to tie on the plant, write with pencil or pen pushes/indents into the tag. Before used masking tape on the can, can write on..or wrap around the trunk with masking tape..I have also taken acrylic paint and wrote the name on the can with a brush..id tags are better.

Brighty- what city in Cal are you in? If you are near Costa Mesa I can give you some sources or I also have some mail order sources. I will take some pictures as I have used many types and have plants from other growers with various methods. I can say there is nothing more frustrating than pulling out some plant from the pile and finding that the name faded completely off and you are trying to remember what it was. This has caused me to adapt to new methods. I will add some pics and explain later. Bill

Thank you Mooniy & Karen. Those are all great ideas. Home Depot is near by so I will see what they have as far as indent/impress tags or T-labels. Thanks for the tips!

Bill, I remember that you have a good labeling system. I am in the A.H. area. Your pictures are always helpful. :) Thanks!

I would suggest looking at flowerdale (2800 n Tustin) or Armstrongs (5780 E La Palma). Also Flowerdale carries excellent pumice and Unigro cactus mix which is one of the best quality products (freak4 and I both use it). I have picked up plant markers at Armstrongs. I also have bought them from Charlies greenhouse (google it) catalog sales. I think the metal ones with the copper looking flat tags are the best. Some people use cut pieces of mini blinds with a hole drilled in for the wire and written on with a grease pencil. I am late so more later. Bill

    Hey there,
I'm new to the plumeria forum but have spent a good time on the wintersowing forum where people's labels have to last several months outside under rain, snow and sun... as well as be cheap, since most WS'ers have lots of seedlings going. The two most popular methods are 1) the pressure on aluminum tags or aluminum foil glued to plastic knives, just use a regular pen to write on it, and 2) paint markers.

These are made by brands like sharpie and can be found in craft stores but have actual paint in them that comes out when you press the tip down. I bought one cheap and used it on labels that lasted 4 months without any fading... You can use them on plastic knives and spoons, cut up mini-blinds, or plastic nursery tags.

Hope you find a method you like!

I cut strips from a plastic milk container and use a magic marker to write the name on them. I then cover the writing with clear shipping tape. Works for me

    Hey Ya'll,
Personally for the past 7 yrs I have been using the T Lables wtih a PTouch label on it. In the past people had asked me about UV and how it would effect the lables. Well after 7 yrs none of the PTouch lables have faded or detached from the
T Label, this seemed to be in question since people thought that the adhesive would wear badly with the sun and water and elements. After 7 yrs the only thing I have found to be in issue is that a few of the T lables have cracked, again this after 7 yrs so I think I got my moneys worth.
Here is an example of one of my labels, I typically use the clean PTouch tape on the white T lables.
The other thing with the PTouch is if you want to get crafty you can add designs/symbols etc to decorate the tag more.
I use a plastic Piple Lock, which comes in many lengths incase you have a thick branch or trunk.
