I grew Aji Dulce #2 and some other mild C. chinenses last year. I love the taste and because there is just tiny amount of heat, I can really eat them like candy.

This year I am growing many more of the mild ones.

This is a 180 DTM plant, odds are against you for a ripe fruit

I transplant most of my plants into the garden beginning of June then dig up into containters in Oct. and pick fruit till Dec.

Chiletepins are finiky. A few I have kept in containers and they have survived a few years with cutting back and root pruning in winter. But some don't make the transition in the winter.

I was able to germinate an old chiltepin seed in December 2004. I grew the plant in a container outside through the summer and it flowered and fruited, but the peppers stayed green. Before freezing weather I brought it indoors and by Christmas time the peppers finally turned red. So for me it took a whole year to get ripe peppers.

If you want hot peppers sooner, buy Bulgarian Carrot plants. They were the earliest in my garden last year and continued to produce until first frost. Nice compact plants with beatiful orange carrot shape fruit. I was not really able to appreciate the taste, because they were too hot for me to eat just like that. I pickled the last green ones and after three months in the brine, they were great on sandwitches.
