Hyssop seeds: sow in fall or winter?

I have a packet of sunset hyssop seeds (agastache rupestris) I'd love to sow but want to give them the best fighting chance.

When I search the forums a lot of people mention winter sowing (which sounds complicated but I'm willing to do it if necessary). Can't I just sow them right now? And if I'm sowing them in an existing plant bed, is it OK to mulch over them since they'll be dormant til spring anyway?

Winter sowing is not complicated at all, and it is what I would suggest. WS is also a LOT of fun :) If you would like some other seeds to try, let me know.

I would not mulch over them, I think they would get eaten or lost by spring.

However you grow them, make sure you have good drainage. I think that is where I go wrong with them.
