White sap is a good thing as long as there isn't lots of it. Doesn't necessarily mean your cuttings are rooted. More than likely the leaves got bumped and some sap leaked out.

Seeing new leaves is a good sign that rooting is beginning. Seeing leaves grow longer is even better. Keep the cuttings warm and they should root this time of year.

There weren't any bugs. I don't have photos of it, nfortunately. I just noticed it on my nightly watering round.

The only way the sap should be able to come out is from a something breaking the surface of the plant, whether it be bugs or a bump of sorts, they won't just spontaneously let out sap.

In 10 days the cutting has not had enough time to root yet, when you have a few full sized leaves you will most likely be rooted then.

Many bugs can do A LOT of things and you will never see them. You can even be looking VERY closely and not see them, even when you're looking for them! If you keep seeing sap then it may be something you'll have to address, if not then no harm done. Good luck, keep us posted!

Adding: if your cutting already had leaves you will have a bit more trouble knowing when it's rooted but you are generally looking at somewhere between 4 and 12 weeks, depending on the cutting.

I agree with Emily that bugs can be present even if you don't see them. I'd give them a good spraying with insecticidal soap, just in case. This has always worked for me when I've seen mystery damage but no obvious bugs.
