That is one handsome Sabal! It obviously is loving life in its new home. Did you buy it? If so, how much was one that size? I know they are not terribly expensive. Just wondering since at some point when I move south I will be buying one to put in any yard I have. =o)

jimhardy & novaplantguy... thanks! It does seem to like where its' at, lots of sun and I've kept it watered well and fertilized throughout the summer. As far as price goes, the person I got it from sells them for $150 installed (8'-16'). This one has about 10' foot of trunk and is about 14' in overall height. I opted to pick it up from the place and plant it myself so I have well under $100 in this tree. I do however, recommend paying the extra few bucks and letting them install it for you if you do get one at some point in time... this thing weighed a ton! It took 3 of us a couple of hours or so just to plant it. Here's a couple pics of the transplant...

We had to pull it up with the truck... this tree came with a lot of dirt and I know that it added a lot to the weight of the tree...

It actually flowered this year, but it wasn't too impressive. I think it had 6 or 7 bloom spikes, but they were very short as compared to a established tree. Hopefully next year it will be a little more impressive. It does have some seeds on it right now. Here's a pic of it blooming in July...

The cold winter really did a number on the bahia grass. Once we warmed up and the rains came, it took off on it's own. I've been having to mow it about every 5 days just to keep it under control, all 2 1/2 acres worth of it! :)

There are all kind of people selling them around here also.One guy wants 400 dollars for a 20ft one installed.I found a guy in Florida who sells the same 20ft tree for 75 dollars,plus 75 dollars to install them.He delivers to Atlanta every other weekend.Nice tree,looks very healthy and happy,great job.
