Cherry Bhuts?
Friend of mine I gave bhut seedlings to (that I grew out from seeds that may or may not have crossed with a naga morich) had overwintered his plant and already has ripe peppers on his (which made me jealous, as my overwintered bhut that produced those seeds has not set fruit yet). He had a cookout, played with his peppers, asked if I wanted the leftovers from this first batch.
Sure I said, can always beef up my vodka infusion with more peppers, or dry them for bhut powder, etc, bring 'em on.
So he brings me this:

And he says these were the big ones, his other friends only tried the little ones. Little? If they were any smaller than this, they must have been freaking ornamental size!
I have never seen ripe bhuts this small before. Best I can figure out is they must have set shortly before one of the last coldsnaps we had and they just stopped growing afterwards. Not sure why they would have gone ahead and ripened (he swears they're incredibly hot, I'll probably be stupid enough to try one to compare to mine last year).
Anyone ever seen peppers stunt that much and still ripen normally? I mean, heck, if it really is the cold that stunted them like that, maybe I should put my chest freezer up to about 40 degrees and put one of my spare bhuts in there just for the novelty of cherry bhuts.
