Mike Janson is using parafilm like that. He says it works great. I have used small bags to seal the cutting in and left the bottom out. Taped the bottom with masking tape. It works good. Now I am using a humidity box. No need for the bag.

The humidity box. Best way to callus cuttings in the summer. Just throw them in the box and forget them for a few weeks.

George, I guess the bag would be cheaper than using up my parafilm.

I agree that warmth and humidity are really the only thing needed to keep these cuttings happy.

I like your humidity box. But in Houston? Really? You don't have enough humidity?

believe or not, even though it feels line a sauna, it is not enough. You need to get to the 95-100% range for callusing to work well.

Finally got a photo. Here's the little guy mummified in Parafilm.

It's now out in my garage with 80 to 90 degree temps.

I just had a very funny thought.

I wonder if there might be some other 'material' that one could use -- like a particular birth-control latex material, for example.

do not laugh. That has many uses industrially. I used to do a sink-float separation of granular material by age. We filled the condom with the granular material with a liquid and sealed it. We centrifuged it and the older materials went to the bottom. We froze it. It looked like a big salami. We then sliced it to get each age fraction of the particles. It worked like a charm.
