The only thing I would add to the excellent advice Brittany gave you would to be patient. It sometimes is tough to look at the cutting in a pot of apparently dry soil and not water it. Remember that, without roots, the cutting has nothing to take up water, so the water just sits there and promotes rot. The cutting has enough energy to develop without additional help.

Brittany and Mike that was the textbook lesson on starting plumies. You can mist the upper half of the cutting when the new leaves begin to show (with spray-n-grow) but only the tops and keep the misting very very light. Hope all the newbie read your posting as it can save a lot of grief.

Water rooting for 3 weeks

I'm trying to root some P pudica cuttings fr late Sept in plastic water bottle so I can see roots emerge. My cuttings are inside, by my south facing kitchen window Its now mid Nov ,no visible roots seen daytime temps varies fr 70s to 80s n nite time temps 50s maybe lower at times ,here in Los Angeles,Ca. The stems are still looking healthy but wrinkled a bit with claw leaves emerging longer as compared to when planted. My dilemma is do I water them? I sprayed the soil once, the soil looks very dry and by how much? I'm also wondering if it's ok to water them with diluted rooting hormone ,I know that this discussion is some years back. Any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
