Any and all help appreciated here--

I inherited this small palm, I think it might be a pygmy date palm. I have had it about a year and it generally looks ok and grows fine, but it is showing a lot of root above the soil line. I went away for the summer and when I returned it was looking almost like it has pushed out of the ground.

I am planning on repotting and root pruning, but should I plant these roots under the soil when I repot? Will they rot? I am not sure as you tend to see palms around here with quite a bit of root flare above the ground.
