I am back

Ok after a full and fast year I was of line for a while and I am here back and ready to garden again. We might be heading to Cherokee Ok to have a full pastorate.. we are not sure right now.

I am reading and catching up on everything...

I do have some plants I am looking to do winter cuttings on - take a look at my list and if you are close to the OKC area and would be willing - LMK!

Hi Mitch,

Welcome back. Keep us posted on the possible move to Cherokee OK.

You do have a lot to catch up on. Here's the short version of what happened to many of us Oklahoma gardeners since the spring swap:

We planted. It rained. We weeded. It rained. We rototilled and built soil, replanted and raised beds eve higher, and we prayed for no rain. It rained. The bugs arrived. It rained. The sun came and went and we mowed whenever we could and....it rained. We harvested and ate fresh food and had beautiful flowers that made lovely bouquets. Still, it rained. We canned and pickled, dehydrated and froze food, and it kept right on raining. We harvested seed, swapped them between us, sent other seeds to good friends and it kept on raining. We raked leaves, cleaned out beds, built compost piles, got busy with the holidays, and then it snowed. After that, it snowed again. That, in a nutshell, is the gardening year 2009 in Oklahoma and much of the surrounding region. I suspect the rain and snow hit you as much there as it hit the rest of us.

Hey Dawn!

It has been a really full year... the tomatoes have been grown and seed saved - some like Black Cherry are SOOOO Good...

She called me asking about the Daylily... one of my creations back in Texas and a one of - she kept wanting to buy one off of me to the point of calling again just to be sure! it was good to have someone like what I breed - maybe I should have kept it then to sell- it would ahve been the only one... lol

Yep that is the bulk of my year... lots of watering lots of good food from my own garden, and saving some seed.. not all i wanted to save but more then I can plant so that is good right?

Of course it is good! It is great! Isn't Black Cherry amazing? I hate to admit this, but when Vince Sapp first introduced Black Cherry, I didn't want to grow it....I figured you couldn't capture that good black tomato flavor in a cherry. Oh, how wrong I was.

They are to die for... I will never be without Black Cherry... and I love Snow White for cooking... and and and.... but Black Cherry is king.
