I installed a fountain in my back garden 2 years ago. When I was planning it, I talked to another gardener who was into water gardening about pumps & he wasn't very big on solar pumps because they just didn't have the pumping power (maybe they have improved since then) so I ran electricity out to my pond. I don't remember the gph of my pump but what you should do is figure out high high you are going to pump your water. Your tank is 2 ft deep & if your fountain outlet is 2' ft above the water line of you tank, you will need a pump that can lift the water 4 ft (more if you want to spray the water up into the air). When I talked to the sales person at the garden center, the distance you were going to lift the water was the fact he wanted to know for selecting the pump size & he had a chart he referred to that he used to figure the pump size for my pond. Honestly I don't think you're going to get the power you need for a pool that size with solar. No where near as a matter of fact. Solar is at best for itty bitty birdbath type fountains. Unless you want to install a whole big panel thingie out by the garden, assuming you even have the right angle to get the right amount of sun.

Don't have a solar fountain, but my Soji solar lantern only glows for a few hours at night. Agree that you'd need a sizeable panel to power a large fountain like that.

We have a couple small fountains that run off electricity.

I'm wondering about that pot fountain too! Did you make it or buy it? I've searched and searched for something low and small for my yard, finally ended up making my own out of two pots, one for the base and one for the fountain. I haven't set it up yet though, don't even know how it will turn out!

Oh, and Jenn, you might be able to power the fountain with solar, but not the cheapie things you buy in the store. Those are small fountains, and don't store electricity so only run in bright sun. You'd have to have the room and angle to set up something larger.
