That will look great. I really like the look of fruit trees in a garden. I did order some, should be here next week. I picked semi-dwarf though so they'll be located in a mini orchard spot inside the pool fence. Hubby is happy since I ordered some cherries so he can make a cherry beer.

BTW, we used to live in the Tri-Cities in WA. Wonderful cherries available up there. That's the last time hubby made a good cherry beer. We'll see how home grown does (in a few years, though).

That will be beautiful. I don't think I can grow apples here. But I put my citrus in just for the scent alone. If I get fruit on top of it even better!

Oh yay! We just decided to expand our (unfinished!) potager a bit as well, to include a few dwarf fruit trees. I'm thinking nectarines, since they're so gorgeous in flower, and I heart nectarines so much. I don't think they'll need quite as much pest protection as apple trees either though I could be wrong.

There aren't a lot of choices in zone 4 (LOL) but so far, I haven't had any problems with the apple tree we already have in the side yard. It's really old, but except for the yellow jackets taking a few bites, we haven't had any bug problems. Since I use them for cooking, not fresh eating, there isn't as much concern :)

How about kiwi? I could not resist the male/female hardy kiwi that Lowes had. Sorry, loofah vines, I have to find a new place for you. Kiwi are now going on my rear arbor bench.

Ooooh, kiwi sounds intriguing. I wonder how hardy they are. I'll have to check at Lowe's this weekend :)
