pepper fruit damage

Starting last year and continuing into this year, a high percentage of my peppers ( chiles, tabasco , habenero and sweet) have the tip ends chewed off, usually no more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch. No worms or maggots inside and no insects visible. Had thought that maybe it was birds, but some of theses peppers are too high to reach from ground and also no sign of droppings. Any ideas?
