That would be a bit out of my budget though, especially if I had to build five to ten of those things!

There are many alternative (grass roots) things you can use to build raised beds. I can easily change the shape and dimensions of my raised beds if I want to. I have used many of the following with great success and still do:

# concrete blocks (cinder blocks)
# rocks
# bricks
# recycled boards
# railroad ties
# logs
# roofing tin

. . . just using whatever you have around the place.

I use boards and hold them in place with stakes hammered into the ground. Bricks, rocks and concrete blocks are good because they help warm up the soil in early Spring.

There are two magazine issues out this month which has many pictures and articles on raised beds. Country Gardens magazine and a special issue of Miracle-Grow magazine called Vegetable Gardening. I found both in the grocery store.
