That doesn't look good at all. From the looks of it you have either bacterial leaf spot or possibly early blight. Both can cause major problems. If you do a google search you will get a better idea what you are up against.

I looked at pictures of Bacterial Leaf Spot, but I don't think it matches exactly. So, do you think these spots could have been caused by the fungicide I applied the night before this? The thing was - I had been concerned that these plants could contract some spots from a neighboring tomato plant, so I sprayed them with a copper soap (Natural Guard). I'm wondering if that could be a cause since I've read that these copper soaps can cause "marginal burn."

Also, I'm wondering if temperatures could cause these spots. The temperatures dipped down into the 40s one evening (and I dont believe they had been exposed to that temperature before.) Thanks for listening. It's much appreciated.

It wasn't from the cool conditions. You say that you already have some tomatoes that have spots, and now your peppers have spots. Do they look similar? If not, keep an eye on it and see if it spreads, bacterial leaf spot spreads quickly under moist conditions and starts off as a black or brownish spot.

To respond to your question, no, the spots on the tomato plants don't look at all like these spots on the peppers (like in the picture above). I wonder if they may be connected, but it's not clear. I've applied a copper fungicide to try to keep these spots in check, but I wonder if I should just throw out the whole bunch?

Do you think I can still cultivate good peppers, or do you think that's impossible since these spots have started to appear? I'm wondering if these spots are merely a matter of appearance, or whether they will prevent us from having good peppers. Thanks for listening.

I think I found the cause of the spots on my peppers. I believe the spots on my peppers were caused by the copper soap fungicide itself. I did some research, and I found that some pepper plants experience discoloration or necrosis of the leaves when copper soap fungicide was applied. So it seems that my use of the copper soap was what nearly killed my plants. I just hope they'll survive after what I've done to them.

It could be that the copper killed a fungus growing on your plants and that is what you are seeing is the dead fungus. This was discussed in the tomato forum(I think) but can't find it now. I wouldn't use copper because of the health risk but you might need to keep treating the plant with something like daconil or serenade.

Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some advice on my pepper plants. I planted some chili pepper plants (a Taiwan and Malaysian varieties). I planted them inside the DOME (totally covered with PVC), temperatures ranges from 38-50C everyday and now some are turning completely yellow (just 4 weeks after transplanting). While those planted outside the DOME looks green. Does that means its due to high temperatures?

Some also showed some burning scotches at the edges of the leaves (see photo). Is that a disease or due to heat stress or nutrient deficiencies?

Pls advice?

The only time I've seen the damage in the top photo was because of chemical burn. In my case, it was caused by both a soapy mix and a different sulfur mix in an attempt to kill mites.

@northwestguy I have the same issue, I sprayed mine a few weeks ago with an organic bug spray and the leaves are just now developing these spots, but they look just like yours.

After I spraying Detergent water on Chili leaves I found this problem. I was the reason of excessive Detergent to the water.
