I just love it. I am totally fascinated with your "rubble" paths. Very, very cool. What is the purpose of the metal fencing grid in the one box? It reminds me of square foot gardening. Having just planted roughly a square of radishes and realizing how hard it is to follow SFG without the obligatory grid, I was wondering what other options are out there. Since I have raised stone beds, I don't want to affix any sort of grid to the top of the bed.

Anyway, your potager is wonderful. I love the varieties of vegetables that you are growing. Mine is going to be rather basic this year since I didn't do any advance planning to find interesting varieties. I'm mostly stuck with what I can find at local garden centers.

Good question, Lisa. It appears she was hunting squirrels in that tree.

The concrete reinforcing wire laid on the dirt is to prevent the raccoons, oppossums, and our cat Sam from digging up the seedlings. Works like a charm. So now we have wire under the beds and on top of the beds. If the birds come around, we'll also have wire OVER the beds. Sheesh.

Most of my plants are from HD and Lowe's. I started the ground cherries, beans, and lettuce from seed, but the toms, cukes and eggplants were nursery plants.

I have not tried square foot gardening. I suppose wooden sticks would serve the purpose. I use dry rose canes in some areas as kitty pongee sticks- canes would serve dual purposes.

I'm off to look at your finished potager again.

I love your paths and great combination of vegetables. Eggplant, peppers and tomatoes are always a challenge here, but ratatouille would be wonderful!

Squash at your neighbors...I'm having the same problem trying to figure out where to put my Cinderella pumpkins. Right now, I'm thinking outside the potager fence and let them sprawl down the hill towards the horse pasture. (LOL)

MMMMM, nice! What do you have growing in between the stepping stones? Does it do OK in full sun?
