That only matters if you are planning on collecting seeds. It won't affect the fruit this year. As far as didtance to prevent crossing I'm not really sure. Given that they are insect pollinated I would think the more distance you can give the better.

I've seen some the pictures on here and it made me wonder.... I've seen really small gardens and they have everything growing so maybe it's not that important unless you plan on seed saving????? Thanls

Unless you plan on saving seeds, you only have to allow for spacing (for growth above and below ground, and availability of light) and plant compatability when interplanting.
