I would also like to know people's feelings on this topic. I have heard that there is not real evidence supporting planting flowers of a certain kind around your veggies. ...other than the fact it can be good to have a variety of plants in your garden so the bugs don't all go to your veggies. My mom swears by Marigolds though.

I think anything that attracks pollinating insects would be of help to your veggies. I would stay away from things plants in the same families as your veggies so as to encourage disease/pests they may share. Maybe a native prairie clover? It would attract insect pollinators and provide nitrogen. I wouldn't think deep rooted natives would compete much with annual vegtables. Just thoughts, if you try some things post and let us know.

I found this research when surfing the web, and it provides a starting point. I have several of these in my flower garden, and will try interplanting with veggies when I divide perennials next year.
