Washington State University has a lot of gardening information. University of Washington might have some too. Both should be on the internet. Washington State University was the first college in the country to have a master gardener/outreach gardening program.

I hope your daughter enjoys the PNW! Lots of rhododendrons, azaleas, roses, japanese maples and evergreens. Lots of moisture and fairly mild temperatures too :)

While I'm on the other side of the state (and have a completely different climate) the PNW is a beautiful area.

DD wants her own potager. I lurk here often so it seemed to me that I should post my question here. Thanks for suggesting NW Gardening.

My SW desert gardening experience probably won't be very helpful to her now, so, LL, thank you for the information. I'll forward it on to DD. By the way she had never heard of or seen rhododendrons and called me going on about how pretty they are and she went on and on about how lush and green it is there and is anxious to get planting!

Sorry if what I posted came across wrong. I didn't mean you shouldn't post that question here, I just thought you might get more information over there. My state's land grant university, Penn State, also has tons of information for my area, so LL's suggestion is excellent.

Good luck! Definitely suggest that your daughter come join us here, too. While we can't necessarily always address issues specific to a given location, we all love talking potager!

Lisa33, I'm sorry if I seemed too terse or rude. Seriously, it never occurred to me that there might be another forum. (I would have never connected NW Gardening to PNW - silly me - I guess I've gotten too comfortable in "my own" world.
