Prairies, meadows and septic systems

The land in front of our house is a septic system covered with 3-6 inches of loam. We are thinking of sowing a praire or meadow on this, but are concerned that the deep roots of some plants might enter the septic system pipes or otherwise affect the sand and gravel of the septic system. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
