Not sure exactly what you wish to accomplish in your project. I am not form your area or naywhere close to your zone so I cannot comment on your plant material, but what i got (or didn't get) from your post was that you had a bunch of stuff in your backyard and you have let it "go wild."

Do you wish to formalize it somewhat? Remove non-natives and install more natives? More forbs and fewer grass species? To be clearer on what your goal is and the exact problem you are having will make it easier for those who can help to do so. :o)

I like the "natural element that is there, but would like more "wild Flowers" amongst it...needless to say, with the thickness of the grass at this point, I doubt the seeds would take...I do not want formal at all, just more flowers in the already established meadow area...I guess....I have been collecting seed and throwing it out back...and this fall, we did have more flowers pop up...so I guess nature is actuall taking care of itself... But I thing I may still have the DH burn small patches to establesh some seeds come wintertime....I'm looking for mainly natives...

I would continue to overseed it, and if your grasses are turf grasses then burning every year might help knock them back. I know that helps with cool-season turf grasses, but you don't really have a cool season down there. ;o)

The trick, though, is to make sure that not only are you using the seed of regionally native plants but that you are choosing the right species for the right spot. I would recommend hooking up with someone from a native Plant Society or something similar. Those groups have a great passion for helping others achieve their native goals.
