Love the color of the leaves, they almost look black. What is it?

Don't know if it will ever bloom, it is one of my seedlings from Loretta that I hatched in 2005. They stay so red I can only hope... :-) roxanne

P.s. - I've got a beautiful pink plumie with a yellow throat that took 8 years to bloom.......keep the faith!

If it is a cool one, I will photograph it for 3 years in a row and then register it...but since the parent tree was not the best flower I wonder if it will amount to anything. That is the whole game with seeds... I do have two coming of age in the fall that are from really good parents....life is just too short sometimes. roxanne

Rox, I think that seedling is wonderful for the striking foliage alone. Think how much more time we spend with just leaves vs. flowers and imagine what a pleasant contrast your seedling's leaves make against greener foliage. Definitely worthy of registering!

That is the good news and the bad news with seeds. You never know what you are getting and some take forever to bloom that first time. I am finally get some to bloom but like you have some with very dark leaves but still no flowers. Here is one of mine that I am waiting to bloom.
