Chipmunk Solutions

Yes, they're cute. And, they never really bothered anything in my garden except this year. My tomato crop has been devastated!

Everyday I keep finding half eaten tomato victims lying inside and outside the garden. I've seen those cute little chipmunks lurking near my plants but haven't actually caught any eating. So, there may be other tomato thieves, too - squirrels, birds, what else?

What to do? I only have 1/2 of my garden protected with 1" chicken wire attached 18" up the main fence and buried 1' deep. I plan to finish the chicken wire project in the fall when the perennial borders die back. Anyone have experience with this? Are 1" holes enough to keep them out?

Other suggestions? TIA for your help.
