First thing that comes to mind for me is a 7-Pot.

Same here....maybe even Brain strain.

The funny thing is that I'm only growing Cayenne & Jalepenos. This is on my Cayenne plant.. Could this still be a Cayenne that is stunted for some reason? Not sure about the discoloration on it either.. I thought it looked a lot like 7-Pot from a photo I saw. This is my first year of growing hot peppers but even as a newbie I know this one isn't turning out as it should. There are no others growing on this plant to compare it to either.

The pod could have been injured somehow when very young but if this is the first pod on the plant, more than likely it isn't a Cayenne or Jalepeno.

The discoloration is just a bit of sun-purpling.

Is it possible I got another pepper variety in a commercial package of seeds? If it continues to grow like this and I get some others that do the same, I might be too chicken to even try them.. Thanks for your feedback everyone :)

Could be a cross. What was the seed source?

Rick

It may be retarded, or you got a hybrid. Maybe a cayenne and a butt-licker cross breed.

The seed packet is from Ferry-Morse. I bought it either at Home Depot or Walmart.. not the places you'd expect to see any "extreme" peppers.
