Echeveria baby from leaf propagation.

This may seem like a silly question, but here goes:

Once Echeveria leaf has produced a decent baby plant, do I forever leave the original piece there? Do I remove it? If it is removed, will it grow a new baby again or is it waste at that point?

It seems like such a simple question, yet wherever I look for information about propagating them, they only discuss it up to the point here a baby plant is successfully grown.
