I had a new cold frame installed about a month ago and so I want to use this in any way that I can. I grow a lot from seed so planned to mainly use it for that, but am now also interested in using it for hardwood cuttings. I am new to this terrritory and so had a few questions:

1) Do you really NEED to use a rooting hormone for hardwood cuttings? I have seen different responses to this.

2) My cold frame is not heated/insulated in any additinal manner so for instance right now, pots that I have out there with seeds going through their cold period are frozen - is this fine for cuttings that will be in containers? Or should they be kept above freezing? In trying to do a little research on all of this I keep coming across different bits of info.

3) What type of watering would need to be done?
