Cut or Plant it

I received a bunch of cuttings today...and love them. Most of the cuttings are callused very well...the core is dry and firm when pushed. I have a few that are softer to the touch and when you push on the ends your finger will go in about a 1/4 inch or so.

My question is should I leave them alone and plant them or recut and callus them?

I'll attached a photograph shortly.

Another photograph attach shows damage caused by USPS, thanks, what's the best way to fix it. The branch did not fully detach but is only held on by say 20 to 30 percent.

Any advised would be great.
