Generally speaking each tip can* produce an inflo per season. So its not so much about the time of summer it blooms but if you got an inflo from each tip during summer. Hope this explanation helps.

It also depends on the variety. Some will produce inflos on almost every branch (Thornton Lemon Drop) and some only a few or none (some plants take a season off) My older plants have more branches and tend to produce more inflos. I have had some plants produce inflos in May and then more in September but that is not often. Also, length of flowering varies by variety. My psycho blooms 10-12 months while some others bloom only for a month and a half. Usually a branch needs to grow a certain length (6-10") before it flowers but there are plants that are exceptions (dwarfs or short growing plants). Since at the point of an inflo, the branch will usually split into about three branches which need to grow before each can flower, that growth must happen before the new branch flowers, if it does at all.

thank you for the answers - that makes more sense now. this one is just starting out, so we will see what happens. if it branches now, i am going to have to build it a support structure....didn't get a pic today, have to get one later.
