I would just leave them alone, and don't let them dry out. I am not suggesting that you do anything different, I just mean that it is very important that your cuttings and their surroundings are damp. It sounds like you are doing it right.

Times vary so much, so there is no way to really say what is correct or not correct. The lower temps at the beginning of the process could definitely slow the rooting of the cuttings. If you have more cuttings and another box (or even a 2 or 3 liter soda bottle) you could start some more cuttings beside the first ones, to observe the difference that warmer temps make.

Also, Meyer's lemon is one that you can take larger cuttings to root.

Patience is definitely an asset.
