bottom heat

Hi:

Just a quick question. I have read a lot about different methods people use for dealing with the whole bottom heat problem. I bought last year at a yardsale a brand new bag with a black cable that turns out to be a de-ice kit.

I was wondering if you could use it somehow for plants. I am not about to climb on the roof to install it. It does asy in the instructions that 1) wire should not touch each other, 2) do not install it on a flat roof (not sure how important "flat" is, since IF it can be used for bottom heat you will have to lay it flat) and 3) turn cable off at 45 degrees. So I guess of not much use here or am I wrong?????

Any input appreciated.
