If they have roots it is not a lost cause. Different species of plants behave differently and you don't give any names, just a plant type. Patience.

Some of the succulents need at least a small skin of the stalk on the removed leaf before they will form shoots. I've had only roots until they die on several varieties of sedum unless there was that bit of the stalk which could form shoot bud initials.

I found that if I sacrificed a small stalk and cut out scallops attached to each leaf removed with a sharp knife I had far better success.

It's only been 2 months. You need to have patience if you plan on taking leaf cuttings from succulents.
