Monada cuttings

My monarda/bee balm plants were crowding out other plants so earlier this week, I shovel prunned and dug up some plants. I cut the tops off and stuck those cuttings in 4 in. nursery pots, hoping they will form roots and take hold so I can share at upcoming plant swap. Is this the way to do this; if I keep the cuttings in the shade and well watered, do you think they will take?
