Grow the plant on in a container usually up to 1 gal... outside in good light with adaquate fertilization & water.....overwinter by storing in a "cold Frame" or cover pot with soil, saw dust etc... & top with some straw...avoid garage etc... plant will be about 12" tall by spring...

Root, I find most published information about propagating plants is written in a generic time warp, usually by Yankees who disregard early spring and long southern growing seasons. If I read "take cuttings at the end of June", I take cuttings at the end of May. If you take early cuttings, you can usually plant them in the ground by August. That will give you a good 10 weeks until the first frost. It may make you feel better to put pot and all into the ground. This will protect the roots from freezing over the winter. Pots above ground may freeze through and through if we have a hard freeze. IN the ground, they are protected. You can also spread mulch on the ground and around the potted plant.
