Pretty standard for most peppers, in my experience.
A plant will set as many pods as it can support, and drop any excess.

Are you fertilizing? Sometimes a bit of Calcium can help, too.

I hadn't fertilized in a few weeks, but I just gave 'em a shot of MG earlier today. Today's dose was the third after setting out 2 months ago. Haven't added any calcium.

what Josh said. i had one pepper plant dropping all its flowers and i watered with FP and added some of Smokemasters witches brew and now it appears i have 5 open flowers and 2 have set and are going to stick.

Thanks for the reminder fellas. i was thinking about putting some more bonemeal (calcium) on my plants but had since forgot. Mine were really stalled and not producing anything for well over a week. I attributed it to the extended lack of rain and very hot conditions. In the last 4 or 5 days, things have cooled and we got some rain. Walla, plants are putting on new mass, they are putting out new buds and blooms and best of all, some of my fruit is beginning to ripen after such a long wait. I think weather has as much to do with pepper issues as anything else. But growing any plant is a constant balancing act. If a plant is deficient in any one element, it will fail to thrive to it's full potential. If it is lacking water, it will not thrive. If it is lacking a necessary nutrient, it will fail to thrive. If it lacking ideal growing conditions, it will fail to thrive, etc.... Just remember that too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Once we find the magic balance, plants sit ready to take advantage.
