grey usually means an older branch and green is a newer branch. Grey is better.

yeah i know i'm a pest but let me explain better. when i say the bark is greener on that one i am meaning that it isn't the new growth green. boht of these are 3 branch plumes. both have new growth on them but the bark below the new growth and below the branchs on the trunk is greener then the other one is. i don't mean green green like new growth green just greener than gray. they are same size does that still mean the gray looking one is older? thanx

I do not think that the color of the wood will be an indicator of flower color with the exception maybe of growth characteristics which can be associated with certain varieties.

The tips are a bigger indicator but only in the most general terms of color.

I'm gonna go out on a limb (haha) and say that probably, yes, the different trunk colors you're seeing indicate different varieties. Whether or not those different varieties produce similarly colored flowers we won't know until they bloom.

Some of mine are most definitely greener or more grey or brown than their neighbors, and the few duplicates I have definitely look like their siblings in the trunks, leaves and tips.
