Black & Blue Salvia

I have a question for all yu experts. B&B Salvia is not hardy where I live, so last fall I dug the plant and kept it in my cool basement. It is now sending up shoots, I can count about 9 of them so far.

I am wondering, can I cut some of these, and root them for new plants this year? If so, at what height should I cut them? I don't want to kill the plant, but I won't be able to plant this out until sometime in May. Our last frost date here is usually about May 25th.

Thank you

Jenny P
