In my opinion, you are better off leaving it, and letting Mother Nature decide if the inflo should drop or not. I have seen for myself that some old inflos will stay on the tree and produce more flower buds!

I had an old inflo turn into a new branch once. Craziest thing!

Usually the plant will wall it off and it will dry up and fall off on its own. If they are starting to brown I will bend and help loosen it. I have seen rot set into a branch from an inflo that did not want to drop off. So its always good to monitor.

I didn't want to cut it and leave a wound on the plant. I'll just wait and see how the plant handles it.

Hi Alan, I usually just leave them alone. Sometimes they fall off after awhile, but other times they will be the first ones to produce flowers the following spring (before new inflos develop and start blooming). What a bonus! Of course they are never really full flower heads, but early on I'll take any flowers I can get. Good luck,
