Apply hormone (0.1% IBA) to cutting, stick in well drained soil & mist takes 40-100 days to root

I salvaged dozens of seeds from my father's plant, stuck a few in dirt, a viola: new plant. It grew to several inches in about two weeks, then I fertilized and it died. Now all the other plants are much better behaved....

Might be easier/quicker to just grow a new one from seed.

I've heard layering is the best way to root. Lay a soft vine down with a bit of the "bark" scrapped away with rooting hormone painted on. Now is a good time of the year to do this and the vines in spring were too green for me. Peg it into the ground and cover with soil leaving it attached to the parent until the middle of spring. Sever from parent and replant. I am an amateur propagator with about 80% success and have never been able to root wisteria with cuttings.
With seed you may find the child not exactly a duplicate of the parent. Hope this helps.

They root easily from cuttings. Just stick in pure sand and keep very damp. Remember they grow in and along rivers in the real world. You can also layer as described above....works easy as well. Most any vine is very easy to replicate by these methods and Wisteria is no exception. I took cuttings from my Wisteria bonsai many years ago and now have tons of flowers from the ones growing in the yard.....I did some ground layers this year so that I could give them away to people that wanted them in my area.
