horseradish roots

Hello:)

Does anyone have an answer to the following?

Last fall after the first frost I dug up my horseradish roots. Then I got real busy and never did anything with them. They sat on my porch and froze thru the winter and dried out. The question is, if I plants these roots in the ground will they produce leaves again and grow?

check the "buds" on the root IF they are fresh then yes they will take off IF dry or mushy then No.....

Well if you didn't get every bit of those roots in the ground you should have a few starts from those.

If in doubt, buy a small piece from the grocery store and plant that. You can leave a small piece when you harvest in the fall - horseradish is hardy to zone 3.
